February 23, 2013: Soccer at the Grassy area...
Today was a one of those memorable days although, It didn't start off great. Tammy woke me up saying she was going to urgent care. She has been under the weather for a week and woke up with severe ear pain. She is okay, they gave her anti-biotics. While she rested, I took the girls to the grassy area. there were a few neighborhood kids out. They all played a form of soccer where it was okay to use your hands to grab the ball, hold, and tackle if you had to.

Malia gets hurt and walks over to where I am sitting. She sits next to me and tells me Jaida sat on her head and begins to cry. Sophie notices Malia is on the sidelines, so she comes over to try to comfort her.
When Sophie gets hurt, she says, 'Its okay. I'm tough." and hits her fist against her chest. Sophie places her arm around her big sister and says, "Malia, just say,'I'm tough' and you will feel better." Malia isn't biting. She is crying into her hands. But Sophie isn't giving up. Sophie then tries a different strategy. She tells Malia to get back out there "and show them what you got!" I am sitting next to them and I am amazed by what I am hearing. Where does she get this stuff from? Still, its not working. Malia's is crying quietly; her head hurts. Sophie then gets up and runs back out to the field. I figure she's given up and thinking 'oh well, i tried. but I'm not missing out on any more of the fun.' But no, I see Sophie dragging Jaida back to where Malia is sitting. As they get closer, I hear Sophie ordering Jaida to apologize to Malia, "like you mean it," for sitting on her head. Jaida apologizes and places her arm around her big sister. I live for moments like this. |
